Given that the left bank of the Saône also has its fair share of unforgettable moments. Thanks to the very physical catfish fishing, the largest fresh water fish in Europe, to the delicate nighttime carp fishing, or even thanks to zander fishing. A nice carnivore which you can practically tease from the terrace of your chalet on stilts, preferably just as the sun is setting on the water in front of you…

The convivial tradition of lake fishing

Make a note that from October to the end of March it is possible to join in on a traditional catch with commentary. You will learn everything about these fishing lakes which the monks at Cluny created in the 16th century.

You will discover the ancestral methods of the local specialists pulling in the ‘seillette’ (a net of 7mm mesh) and handling the ‘fourchette’ (a long forked pole). And then, coming back to a better known fork, as a privileged witness of Dombes life you will be able to experience a great moment of conviviality, together with the inhabitants with a good wine around a fish dish emblematic of the area.
